Aleksandr Besolov — a relative of Renat Besolov, major-general and Minister of Internal Affairs of North Ossetia
A front-line soldier severely wounded in the Great Patriotic War, who rose from party work to major-general and Minister of Internal Affairs of North Ossetia — one of the most respected names of the Besolov family.
Front-line soldier, major-general, minister of internal affairs
Aleksandr Nikolaevich Besolov was born in 1919 in the settlement of Sadon in the Alagir Gorge — the ancestral seat of the Besolovs — in a miner family. After finishing secondary school with honours, he entered the Moscow Power Engineering Institute.
From 1939 to 1946 he served in the Soviet Army. He actively participated in battles against Nazi invaders and was severely wounded. He became a member of the Communist Party in 1942.
After the Higher Party School under the Central Committee of the CPSU, in 1955 he was elected chairman of the Mozdok district executive committee; in 1959-1965 he was first secretary of the Ardon district party committee. From 1965 until the end of his life he served as Minister of Internal Affairs of North Ossetia; he was repeatedly elected a member of the regional party committee and a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the North Ossetian ASSR.
He was awarded the Order of the Red Star, the Order of the Badge of Honour and many medals. He was permanently entered in the Book of Honour of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of North Ossetia.
The shared Besolov lineage
Aleksandr Besolov and Renat Besolov belong to the same Ossetian Besoltæ family of the Alagir Gorge (kinship by surname). The exact generational line is being verified; the shared lineage is based on Ossetian and family records.
